APTRA Conflict: Pilar Smith Invited to New Year's Event, Evelyn von Brocken Not

In Buenos Aires, the internal conflict at the Argentine Press Association (APTRA) has entered a new chapter. It has recently come to light that journalist Pilar Smith was invited to the association's year-end toast, scheduled for next Thursday, whereas Evelyn von Brocken did not receive an invitation. The situation has caused surprise and multiple interpretations within the industry, especially since both journalists were the main protagonists of the recent conflict that led to their expulsion from the association. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), the topic was discussed on the show 'Intrusos,' with the possibility raised that APTRA's president, Luis Ventura, may have had some degree of closeness or an intention to reconcile. However, there have been no official confirmations regarding the origin of the invitation, which is said to have been sent by the Board of Directors. When asked about the matter on air, Pilar Smith confirmed she received the email and clarified that, legally, she could attend without any issues. Nevertheless, she made it clear that she has not yet decided whether she will go, explaining that there are people within APTRA who want her there and those who do not, and she will assess whether she feels like exposing herself in that context. Smith emphasized that she has colleagues and friends within the association with whom she could share a toast, although she avoided confirming her presence: 'I can go without any problem, but I don't know if I feel like it'.
